The Set of bar charts, the first graph
illustrates millions of marriages and Divorces in USA between 1970 and 2000;
whereas the second chart explains the percentage of adults Americans in 4 types
of marital status in the mentioned two years.
Focusing on the former graph, it is
evident that between 1970 and 2000, more marriages happened compared to the divorces
that is the 70’s and 80s; However, these numbers declined slightly by new
millennium to around 2 million. Coincidently,
there were fewer divorces in 1970,1980 and 2000(1 million each year) expect for
the sudden rise in the divorce rates in 1980 by 0.5 million.
Considering the marital status of adults
Americans were committed. However, the numbers were higher in 1970 at 70% compared
to those in 2000(60%). The other categories had significant numbers. that is,
there were less than 10% of adults who were either widowed or divorced. Interestingly,
as observed there was a group in both the years never got married. There were
nearly 15% in the 70s’ which rose to 20% in 2000.
Overall. it can be stated that in the
period of the mentioned 30 years, the Americans had faith in the institutions
of marriage and commitment. (204 worlds)
